DIY Toothpaste

I’ve been using this toothpaste and absolutely love it. But, when you’re trying to pay down $171K in student loan debt, it’s more cost effective to make all of your own supplies. I’ve recently made laundry detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, face wash, and now DIY toothpaste!

When you already have a majority of the supplies at home. It saves you a bit of money across the span of a year – which is better than nothing.

This is a recipe that I picked up off of Pinterest and adapted it to make my own.

½ cup coconut oil
2-3 tbs baking powder
10 drops peppermint essential oil
1 container to store it in (Something like this one)

Put the coconut oil in your glass container. You may need to warm it up a little bit to help with mixing in the baking powder and the essential oils. Once you’re done with that – you’re good to go! This mix will last me about two months with ingredients that I already had and jars that I always keep on hand! So, free to me!

This was a quick and easy DIY tutorial to whip up in no time.

Over the course of this year, I’ll save about $37.92 by simply not buying toothpaste. If you’re curious to see how much money I’ll save in a year by making my own home and beauty products stay tuned for a detailed list of how I saved over $150 so far this year.

Happy brushing!
