DIY: Quick & Easy Mouthwash Recipe

Mouth Wash Recipe

When it comes to all things DIY on a dime. I’m there. This was another one of those things that we ran out at the house and I refused to buy at the store because I have perfectly good items to make it around the house. This one took me a couple tries to get something good, but I finally landed on a recipe that I like and works for us. Keep in mind that this will last about two weeks and you’ll need to remake the batch every two weeks or so.

Not only is DIY mouthwash beneficial for your wallet, it’s also beneficial for your health. Seriously people, look it up. It’s actually scary the chemicals that are used in our day to day products. So, I prefer to make all my products at home to avoid chemicals and buying healthy products is usually really expensive.

Here’s a quick and easy recipe that will leave your mouth healthy, happy, and minty fresh!

½ cup water
½ teaspoon coconut oil
2-3 drops peppermint oil (clove, spearmint, or cinnamon would all work fine too. Personal preference.)
Optional: pinch of baking soda

Combine all ingredients in a closed container – give it a good shake and swish around in your mouth for 15-20 seconds. Spit out and rinse and you’re good to go!

By DIY-ing my own mouthwash – I estimate saving about $18 a year. Which, doesn’t sound like a lot but when you add it over 20+ years, now that’s some serious savings!
